Join us for the 3rd annual foot race up Cerro Gordo's historic Yellow Grade Road! Saturday, May 24th, 2025.
** Camping and lodging info at bottom of description! **
Our first two years were such an amazing success, we can't wait to host it again! This one will be bigger and better than before! With even more goodies and amenities for all participants.
The race will begin at the bottom of Cerro Gordo’s road, which is about 3,500 feet in elevation, and end at the deck of our museum, which is close to 8,200 feet in elevation. That’s almost a mile of elevation gain in a race just under 8 miles!
On the race up, there will be 4 hydration stations complete with water, electrolytes, easy to consume calories, sunscreen, and more. A paramedic will be following all runners the entire race.
At the top of the Cerro Gordo trail, runners will be able to rest and recover at a pop-up recovery lounge. Complete with shaded structures, hammocks, portable ice baths and more, runners will have the opportunity to reward themselves with recovery options.
After everyone finishes, we will have a meal for everyone including refreshments as well as live entertainment!
Each runner will get a limited edition "Cerro Gordo Silver Run 2025" t-shirt.
Shuttle vans will be available to bring all runners down the hill after the race.
The winner of this event will have their name forever remembered by being engraved in a silver trophy to remain on-site at Cerro Gordo for decades to come.
The winning time in 2024 was 1 hour 16 minutes and 26 seconds by Tim Parr. Come see if you can beat that!

Camping/Lodging/Parking
Our neighbor is providing camping spots available in Keeler, CA, less than 1/4 mile from the starting line, available for $20/spot. These will have restrooms available at the campground area. This is by far the cheapest and closest accommodation option.
Otherwise, Lone Pine, CA is 15 miles from the starting line and has a wide variety of hotels, motels, RV parks, and more.
Another option is BLM Land camping. There is a lot of BLM land around and you can camp there for free for up to 14 days. Google "BLM camping" for more information.
There will be multiple parking lots available in Keeler, CA the day of the race to leave your cars. There will be volunteers on site to direct you to these day of the race. After the race, you will be brought down by shuttle bus, back to these parking lots.
